surname2: Mc Cready
I am the GGG Grand-Daughter of Robert Hitchman and Elizabeth McCready. I have lots of info. on this line....more is always good! One of Robert's sons, Alexander, is buried in Arlington National Cemetary. He was killed in the Civil War. He was in the 67th Reg. Company D... Does anyone have any additonal info. on Alexander or this regiment? Also, it is unclear who the immigrating Hitchman was. One edition of the History of Westmoreland County has John D. Hitchman coming from England to Virginia during the Revolutionary war and another has William Hitchman. My family has John D. in their records. Does anyone know for sure which is correct? If so, do you know where in England he came from?
