I remember seeing lots of movies here when
I was a kid. I really miss having an in-town theater. The mall cinema complexes
have made these theaters extinct. If you would like to share a memory about
the Penn Theater write and let me know!

Before it was the Penn Theater it was Cox's
theater and restaurant. I received these pictures from Jim
Sterrett a grandson of the Cox's. The place has changed quit a bit
over the years!
My mother remembers going to the restaurant and eating "Boston Coolers"
before going to the movies.

I'd like to share a memory about the Penn
Theater. I grew up in Tarrs, PA, and we always went to the "show" at the
Penn. When I was young, I would sometimes go with my cousin, who happens
to be 5 months older than I. I remember that I could still get in the "show"
for the children's price and she had to pay more even though I was a much
bigger girl than she was. I remember also seeing "The Ten Commandments"
there when it came around for the first time. It was SRO and since my friend
and I couldn't find seats together, we stood through the entire movie --
4 hours!!
