Kecksburg Pennsylvania UFO

Animated space alien with eyes and mouth opening and closing.

In December 1965, I lived in Brookville, PA, approximately 80 miles northeast of Kecksburg. At the time, I was not quite 8 years old. I have a vivid memory of a visit to my grandfather's home in Corsica, PA, near the intersection of Interstate 80 and Route 36. I can't verify the date, or the exact time, but it was mid to late afternoon, and the weather was cool. My father, my younger brother, my uncle and I were in a field behind the house, when we heard a loud hissing sound filling the air. As we looked up, we witnessed a large, blue ball of fire and sparks flying across the sky leaving a trail of smoke in its wake. I remember that it seemed very large and very close.

Years later, in talking about the incident with my father, now deceased, he related that he thought the world was coming to an end. I asked if he remembered reading anything about it in the local paper, but he couldn't recall. The time period, and other descriptions of the Kecksburg event do seem to coincide with what I witnessed as a child, but a couple of things don't make sense to me.

From what I have read about the object that landed at Kecksburg, it traveled southeast from Flint, MI to Cleveland, at which point it changed to an easterly course. Corsica, PA is almost directly east of Cleveland, and just a little south. However, Kecksburg is ~85 miles south and west of Corsica. This would mean that in order for the object to pass near Corsica and land near Kecksburg, it would have had to make a fairly sharp southwesterly turn.

I've just begun to research this and re-live my memories,so I am curious as to whether or not their have been other reports from the Brookville / Corsica area, and whether their is an explanation as to the apparent differences in the flight path of the object. I would like to hear from anyone that can confirm what I have witnessed and add to the story.

Thanks,
Tom Anderson
